Pallix shows you where your brand stands in AI answers, which competitors appear instead and which sources shape those answers. It then hands you fixes written out and ready to copy and paste. This guide compares Pallix with five other AI visibility tools on the same six criteria, so you can pick the one that fits your team.
First, a definition. Here, "search positioning" means how your brand appears inside answers from engines such as ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, Gemini and Copilot. That covers whether you're named, where you sit in the answer and which sources back it up. It is not your website's ranking in Google's ten blue links. A page can rank well in Google and still be missing from AI answers.
Disclosure: Pallix publishes this blog. Pallix is held to the same criteria and sourcing rules as every other tool here.
The short answer: which AI visibility tools should you compare?
Start with Pallix, Semrush, Otterly.AI and Profound. Add Peec AI and AthenaHQ if their strengths match your needs. All six track how your brand appears in AI answers. They differ on prompt volume, engine coverage, competitor limits, country support and how they turn data into next steps.
- Pallix fits brands that want to monitor a specific market, see the fan-out queries behind each prompt and get ranked fixes they can copy and paste, including marketplace listing improvements. Pricing is per brand, with unlimited seats.
- Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit fits teams that already work in Semrush and want AI visibility next to their SEO data.
- Otterly.AI fits teams that want daily monitoring from a small starting plan, with Looker Studio, API and MCP on higher plans.
- Profound fits enterprise teams that want wide engine coverage and are comfortable with a demo-led setup.
- Peec AI fits teams that want unlimited competitors and the freedom to pick which engines they track.
- AthenaHQ fits teams that want to start on a free plan, with broad model coverage on its paid plan.
No single tool wins on every point. The right choice depends on the prompts, engines, markets and workflow you need. The table below shows where each one stands.
How to choose: visibility, competitors, citations, prompts and markets
Check these six points before you buy. The comparison table uses the same six.
- Buyer-prompt coverage. A prompt is a question a buyer might ask an AI engine, such as "best sunscreen for oily skin in India". Check whether you can write your own prompts, whether the tool suggests prompts, how many you get and how often they refresh. A daily refresh shows changes sooner than a weekly one.
- Brand visibility. Check which metrics the tool reports: mention rate, share of voice, position in the answer and sentiment. Then check which engines are covered on the plan you would actually buy, not only on the top plan.
- Competitor monitoring. Check how many competitors you can track and whether they are measured on the same prompts as you.
- Citations. AI answers often lean on third-party pages. A good tool shows which domains and URLs are cited, so you know which sources to work on.
- Market coverage. AI answers change by country and language. If you sell in more than one market, check how many countries each plan allows and whether prompts run in the local language.
- Workflow. Check whether the tool tells you what to do next, how you export data, whether it connects to your reporting tools, how many seats you get and whether you can try it first.
Side-by-side comparison of the tools
Every claim links to the vendor's own page. Unverified means we could not find the point on the vendor's pages during our check. Conflicting means the vendor's own pages disagree. Plans change often, so check each vendor's page before you buy.

Which tool fits your team's use case?
Start from your situation, then check the table for the points that matter most to you.
- You need to see how AI engines answer buyers in one market, such as India, and want a clear list of fixes. Look at Pallix. You choose the country or region, and Pallix adapts query execution, language and sources to that audience (about). It then ranks actions across content, authority, technical readiness and market presence (capabilities).
- You sell through marketplaces as well as your own site. Look at Pallix. It shows which marketplaces AI answers cite (FAQ) and suggests improvements to your listings there.
- You have a small team and no time to turn reports into copy. Look at Pallix. Its fixes come written out, so your team copies and pastes them rather than drafting from scratch.
- You want to know what AI engines actually search for. Pallix shows the fan-out queries behind each prompt: the background searches an engine runs to build its answer. Use them to see which questions your pages need to answer.
- Your marketing team is large, or you add people often. Pallix, Otterly.AI, Peec AI and AthenaHQ all list unlimited seats or users on their plans (Pallix, Otterly.AI, Peec AI, AthenaHQ).
- Your SEO team already lives in Semrush. Look at the Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit. Prompt tracking sits inside Position Tracking, next to your keyword data (help). Note that Brand Performance data updates weekly, while prompt tracking updates daily (help, help).
- You want to start small and plug data into your own dashboards. Look at Otterly.AI. Its entry plan tracks 15 prompts, and Standard adds Looker Studio, API and MCP (pricing).
- You run a large enterprise programme and need many engines, an API and onboarding support. Look at Profound. Enterprise covers up to 9 engines, and its API and MCP are Enterprise features (pricing, API docs).
- You want to watch many competitors and pick your own engines. Look at Peec AI. Competitors are unlimited, and you choose 3 engines on self-serve plans (pricing).
- You want to test before you pay anything. AthenaHQ has a free plan (plans). Pallix offers a 14-day trial (about), and Profound offers a 7-day trial (pricing).
- You manage several brands or clients. Pallix Agency/Enterprise adds multi-brand and white-label (pricing). Otterly.AI, Profound and Peec AI also run agency programmes (Otterly.AI, Profound, Peec AI).
Pallix: monitoring AI search positioning
Pallix tracks brand visibility, competitors, citations and the sources influencing AI answers across the buyer prompts you choose (FAQ). Prompts, visibility, competitors and citations sit in one workspace, so you don't need spreadsheets or manual checks (product).
What you track. You pick the buyer questions that matter at each stage: discovery, comparison, features, reviews and brand searches (FAQ). Pallix tracks ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, Gemini, Copilot, Grok and Claude. Starter covers ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews (pricing).
What sits behind each answer. AI engines often split one prompt into several background searches before they answer. This is called query fan-out. Pallix shows you these fan-out queries, so you can see what the engine looked for and which of those searches your pages miss.
How you compare markets. AI answers differ by country and language. Pallix adapts query execution, language and sources to the audience you're studying, so you can compare one market with another (about, capabilities).
What you do next. Pallix turns gaps into ranked actions across content, authority, technical readiness and market presence (capabilities). Each one is tied to the evidence behind it (FAQ). Fixes come written out and ready to use, so your team copies and pastes them.
Marketplace listings. AI answers often cite marketplaces (FAQ). Pallix suggests improvements to your marketplace listings, so the pages AI engines read describe your products well.
How plans work. Each plan is priced per brand, with unlimited seats. Plans differ by prompt volume, refresh cadence, competitor depth and intelligence modules (pricing). The self-serve trial runs for 14 days, with 20 active prompts refreshed daily (about).

How this comparison was researched and when it was checked
When. All vendor pages were checked on 12 October 2026. We will update this page when a vendor changes a point in the table.
Which tools. We looked at AI answers to two sets of buyer questions: which tools monitor AI search positioning, and which AI visibility tool is best. Semrush, Otterly.AI and Profound were the tools named most often. Many of those answers cited Semrush's own roundup of AI visibility tools, which also covers Peec AI, HubSpot AEO, Writesonic, Botify and Athena. We added Peec AI and AthenaHQ after checking them on their own sites. We left out HubSpot AEO, Writesonic and Botify because we did not verify them on their own pages for this check. We treated the roundup's descriptions as that article's claims, not as facts, and did not use it as a source.
Which sources. We used only each vendor's own pages: product and feature pages, pricing pages, help centres and documentation. Where a pricing page loads its plan details with JavaScript, we read the fully loaded page in a browser. We did not use review sites or other roundups.
- Pallix: product, capabilities, pricing, FAQ and about pages.
- Semrush: AI pricing, Semrush One pricing and the knowledge base articles on the AI Visibility Toolkit, getting started, prompt tracking, Brand Performance, Competitor Research and AI visibility data, plus a Semrush news post.
- Otterly.AI: pricing, features and help centre articles on monitoring, tags, prompt counts, metrics, competitors, citations, countries, languages and the free trial.
- Profound: pricing, Answer Engine Insights, integrations, a help article on prompts and docs on metrics, categories, settings, the API and MCP.
- Peec AI: pricing, agency pricing and docs on prompts, metrics, competitors, sources, actions, project management and the API.
- AthenaHQ: plans and docs on prompts, dashboards, competitors, sources, insights and integrations.
What we left out. We did not compare prices. Vendors quote monthly and annual rates on different bases and change them often, so use the pricing pages linked above. We did not rank the tools or give them scores.
How we handled gaps. Where a vendor's pages did not state a point, we marked it unverified. Where a vendor's pages disagreed with each other, we marked it conflicting rather than choose one. Pallix facts come from its published pages and, for features added recently, from the Pallix product team. They follow the same rules.
Common questions about choosing an AI visibility tool
What is an AI visibility tool?
An AI visibility tool tracks whether and how your brand appears in answers from engines such as ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews. Most also track competitors and the sources those answers cite.
Is AI visibility the same as search ranking?
No. Search ranking is your page's position in search results, while AI visibility is whether an AI answer names your brand, where it places you and which sources it uses.
Which AI visibility tool is best?
No tool is best for every team. Compare prompt coverage, engines, competitors, citations, markets and workflow against what you need, using the table above.
Which AI engines should a tool track?
Track the engines your buyers use, and check which ones are included on the plan you would buy. Some tools charge extra for certain engines or keep them for higher plans.
Why do citations matter?
Citations show which pages an AI engine relied on for its answer. They tell you which sources to improve or earn a place on.
How many prompts do I need?
Enough to cover the main questions buyers ask at each stage, from discovery to comparison to brand searches. Start with your core category questions and add more as you learn.
Can I track AI answers in more than one country?
Yes, but limits vary by tool and plan. Check how many countries each plan allows and whether prompts run in the local language.
What are fan-out queries?
Fan-out queries are the background searches an AI engine runs to build one answer. Pallix shows them for each tracked prompt, so you can see what the engine looked for.
Does Pallix track Grok and Claude?
Yes. Pallix tracks Grok and Claude alongside ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, Gemini and Copilot.
How does Pallix price its plans?
Pallix prices each plan per brand, with unlimited seats. Plans vary by prompt volume, refresh cadence, competitor depth and intelligence modules (pricing).
Does Pallix offer a trial?
Yes. The self-serve trial runs for 14 days, with 20 active prompts refreshed daily (about).
